Accommodation in Lassithi
The county of Lassithi is situated on the east side of Crete and is considered as one of the most popular holiday destinations which caters for every type of holiday and vacation.
It is an area that combines the mountainous scenery with soft sandy beaches, green valleys, gorges and ravines. 3 of the major cities in Crete: Agios Nikolaos, Ierapetra and Siteia belong to the county of Lassithi, and all three are tourist centers. Although Lassithi has a distinguished cosmopolitan atmosphere, it has preserved it's natural beauty and sites such as the palm trees forest Vai, as well as many important archeological sites including the Dikteon Andron, the cave where Zeus was born.
The capital town of Lassithi is Agios Nikolaos, a very picturesque port, trading and tourist center, with a cosmopolitan atmosphere. Whilst in Agios Nikolaos, you can visit the museums and the local market for your shopping.

This oddly named gorge is named so because during the Minoan period, the dead were buried here, as the people believed that if the dead were buried at this very beautiful place, they would continue to live here in the afterlife too. In Kato Zakros you will find the Minoan Palace with the Kings’ tombs, the 3rd largest archaeological site in Crete.
Other areas of great tourist interest are the hamlets of Agia Fotia, Ferma and Goudouras, where you will find the famous forest of palm trees Vai and the Kapsa gorge.
