Iraklia is one of the smaller of the islands in the Cyclades, and belongs ot the group known as the Small Cyclades. It is located between the neighbouring islands of Ios and Naxos.
As with many of the surrounding islands, Iraklia is one with a very interesting and rich history. The old castle ruins that stand above the bay of Livadi provide visitors to the island with a glimpse into the historic past of Iraklia.
There are two villages on Iraklia, one of Chora ( Hora ) or Panagia as it is also known. The other village is that of Agios Georgios, which is also the port of Iraklia.
The landscape and scenery of Iraklia is very beautiful with lots of greenery and rich vegetation.
It is an island that is ideal for trekking and exploring, due to both it's small size and the inspiring views and imagery you will find everywhere.
